Striking employees of Saskatchewan Crown corporations were on the picket line at Directwest on Tuesday morning.
At about 6:15 a.m., Unifor said about 200 of its members were picketing at a Directwest building on North Longman Crescent, near the oil upgrader.
A union official said the picketers planned to be on the line all day, trying to block managers from getting in.
Employees from seven Crowns – SaskTel, SaskPower, SaskEnergy, SaskWater, Directwest, SecurTek and the Water Security Agency — went on strike on Oct. 4.
The union isn’t happy that the Crowns’ initial offer included zero-per-cent wage increases in the first two years of a five-year contract offer.
On Thursday afternoon, union members employed by the Water Security Agency reached a tentative deal with the Crown agency. Unifor responded by saying it hoped the WSA employees wouldn’t ratify the deal.
On Friday, striking employees marched through downtown Regina, stopping briefly in front of the headquarters of SaskPower, SaskEnergy and SaskTel to protest.
