A standoff on the Big Island Cree Nation ended peacefully with the arrest of a man wanted for murder.
On Sunday afternoon, Pierceland RCMP said a dangerous man had barricaded himself inside a home on the First Nation and was threatening harm to himself and police.
After several hours, the RCMP said the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
More than 30 officers participated in the operation.
Jonathan Dufraine, 38, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Zane Kiseyinewakup, who was killed on Oct. 2 on the First Nation.
The Big Island Cree Nation is located roughly 400 kilometres northwest of Saskatoon.
