A new pool will have to wait a bit longer for the town of Lanigan, southeast of Saskatoon.
The community was one of four finalists in the Kraft Heinz Project Plat contest, but didn’t receive enough votes to win the $250,000 grand prize.
The title and money went to Saugeen Shores, Ont. Its victory was announced live on TSN Monday night.
Jennifer Thompson, Lanigan’s town administrator, told Brent Loucks on Tuesday that residents are still holding their heads high despite the vote not going their way.
“Being in the top 4 was still a really amazing feat for our community to reach, and we still brought home $25,000 to go toward our water park project so we’re still pretty happy,” Thompson said.
Including money from the contest, the community has raised more than $840,000 to date.
Thompson said construction will start once they hit the $1-million mark.
