Two women are facing charges after an incident involving a stolen truck, a spike belt and an unmarked police vehicle.
In a media release issued Friday, the Regina Police Service said it received a report Wednesday at around 10:15 p.m., of a Chevrolet Silverado that had been stolen near the Douglas Park hill.
After seeing the vehicle speeding through residential areas, officers put down a spike belt in the vehicle’s path on Eighth Avenue. The driver kept going after running over the belt, but allegedly sideswiped an unmarked police vehicle before stopping.
The truck’s occupants ran off, but were arrested soon after.
One of the women, a 30-year-old from Regina, faces charges including theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident, driving while prohibited and failing to comply with a probation order.
A 32-year-old woman from Broadview was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The women made their first court appearances Thursday.
