8:30 – A group of 11 senators broke away from the Independent Senators Group and the Tories to form a new caucus focused on promoting regional interests. The Canadian Senators Group (CSG) includes senators from all parts of Canada and will be led by Sen. Scott Tannas as interim leader. He says the idea started during the spring session, when the senate passed bills C-69 and C-48, and warned that “Wexit” is “something we need to be concerned about.” Pamela Wallin has represented Saskatchewan in the senate since 2009, and has signed on as a member of the newly-formed CSG. Wallin joins Gormley now to discuss the new group, why she joined, and what she hopes they can accomplish for Canada.

11:00 – We’ve heard a lot about victim culture recently, but author Mark Milke says victim culture has led to some of the biggest atrocities in history including the rise of Hitler, the Rwandan genocide, and more. In his new book “The Victim Cult: How the culture of blame hurts everyone and wrecks civilizations,” Milke explores what happens when an entire society takes on the mantle of victimhood, and the negative impacts it has had throughout history. “On a personal level, the chronic victim-thinker can be toxic,” Milke writes. “But what happens when grievances dominate entire societies?” Milke joins Gormley now to discuss his new book and the arguments against victim culture.
