A 28-year-old Regina man is facing charges in connection with a recent string of break-ins at five businesses.
In a media release Thursday, the Regina Police Service said it received reports of five break-ins between Nov. 5 and Monday.
Police say the incidents happened at two businesses in the 1900 block of Broad Street and at one business in each of the 1800 block of Hamilton Street, the 2100 block of Broad Street and the 1800 block of Broad Street.
On Wednesday night, officers saw a man leaving a business in the area of 14th Avenue and Broad Street. The man matched the description of the suspect in one of the break-and-enters, so he was stopped by the officers.
They found a hatchet on the man, so he was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon. After further investigation, police located evidence connected to the break-ins and charged the man with those offences.
He made his first court appearance Thursday to face four charges of break and enter and commit theft, two charges each of wearing a disguise in the commission of offence and possession of stolen property under $5,000, and one charge each of break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, trafficking in property obtained by crime, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of break-and-enter tools.
