A tip through the Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods program resulted in the discovery Tuesday of items that Regina police believe were stolen — including about 70 bicycles.
According to a media release from the Regina Police Service, officers received a tip that a residence in the 800 block of College Avenue had “what appeared to be a large quantity of bicycles inside.”
Officers went to the home near Miller Comprehensive High School and discovered the bikes, along with a paint sprayer, pressure washers, power saws, a cement mixer and a planer.
A 57-year-old Regina man was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. He’s to make his first court appearance Jan. 7.
The police cautioned residents who may have had bikes stolen that it will take time to find the owners.
“If you believe your bike may be among these recovered bicycles, please ensure that you have made an original report to Regina Police Service, reporting your bike stolen,” the media release said. “If you did not report it stolen, you can still do so; please give a serial number (if you have it) and any other unique, identifying characteristics.”
The police said they will contact the bikes’ owners after all of the bikes are logged into the police’s computer system.
