A 22-year-old Regina man is facing 10 charges after a weapons call in northwest Regina on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Regina Police Service, officers responded to a business in the 4400 block of Rochdale Boulevard at about 2:20 p.m., for a report of a suspicious male who was believed to be carrying a knife.
An officer found the man outside the business and saw the bottom of a blade sticking out of the man’s waistband. When the officer tried to arrest the man, he ran off.
About 20 minutes later, the man returned to the scene and was arrested.
A search of the man turned up a loaded modified rifle, a machete, a small amount of an illegal substance and items that allegedly had been stolen.
The man faces five weapons charges and one charge each of possession of a scheduled substance, shoplifting under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, escaping lawful custody and failing to comply with an undertaking.
He was to appear in court Thursday.
