Some farmers in Saskatchewan are still hard at work, trying to finish off harvest 2019.
The final crop report of the season indicates 93 per cent of the crop is now combined in the province.
The cool and wet conditions have halted harvest for many in the past few weeks. Crops being taken off now are reported to be tough and damp.
Crop yields vary greatly across the province mainly due to poor weather, beginning with a spring drought, and then wet and stormy weather that followed. Many producers have reported average to above-average yields.
Quality is an issue for most producers because of the conditions. It is reported to be below average for almost all crops due to factors like sprouting, staining and bleaching. Crops harvested early fared better for quality.
Cattle producers report that their winter feed supplies are adequate.
Farmers continue to work to complete harvest before winter, but there are indications that some of the crop will likely be left out until the spring.
