You should be home by midnight after the new show that opens at the Globe Theatre today.
Cinderella follows the same general plot that is well known, but this play follows an original script.
Helen Belay, who plays Cinderella, joined the 980 CJME Greg Morgan Morning Show. She explained what she loves about this rendition is Cinderella isn’t saved by the prince.
“Cinderella saves herself. She is her own light through the darkness and the people that she gets to the other side with come along with her, because her doing that allows them to see it in themselves,” said Belay.
The set was designed by Rebecca Donison. A magical tree hangs over the stage, which took five people six weeks to build.
“It’s really magical and beautiful. I don’t want to give too much away but I think people are going to be stunned by it,” said Rebecca Auerbach, who plays Pepper and the Fairy Mother.
The show is proving to be a popular one and has been extended twice before opening.
Cinderella runs until Dec. 29.
