Regina police are asking the public for help in finding an alleged pair of taxicab robbers.
The man and the woman allegedly committed the theft after a cabbie drove them from the 1300 block of Athol Street to a restaurant on the 4200 block of Dewdney Avenue on Tuesday night just after 10:30.
In an emailed media release, the police service said “when the driver asked for payment, the male suspect handed him some money. When the driver went to make change, he realized the male suspect had grabbed a pouch in which the driver kept all of his money. The driver got the pouch back, but it was missing all the money.”
The driver got out of his cab and “challenged the suspects,” but the man pushed him to the ground.
The pair then ran away. The taxi driver had minor injuries from the incident.
Police say the man is 25-30 years old, about five-foot-six or five-foot-seven, with a thin build, short hair and wearing a black hoodie and jeans. The woman is about five-foot-two or five-foot-three in height, with a thin build and long hair; she was wearing a jacket.
Anyone with information about the incident or the people involved should contact Regina Police or Crime Stoppers.
