8:30 – Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer is set to announce his new leadership team today, but will a change in staff be enough to restore confidence in Scheer after his failure to beat Trudeau on Oct. 21? While Scheer works to restore confidence, a group of prominent Conservatives has started a grassroots movement trying to pressure him to step down before the CPC’s leadership review in April. Even former MP Lisa Raitt, one of Scheer’s strongest supporters, admitted this week that the party members feel Scheer “wasn’t strong enough” as a leader. We want to know what you think – is it time for Scheer to step down? Give us a call at 1-877-332-8255!

10:00 – Trudeau’s newly-appointed Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland has been to Saskatchewan and Alberta this week, meeting with Premiers Moe and Kenney to hear the concerns around western alienation and dissatisfaction with the federal government’s policies around pipelines, equalization, and the carbon tax. Both premiers said the federal government listened to their concerns, but Premier Moe said action is needed, and quickly, to address the frustrations felt in Saskatchewan. So, what steps can the federal government take to help smooth over the divide between Eastern and Western Canada? To help answer that question John is joined by Loleen Berdahl, Professor and Head of Political Studies at the University of Saskatchewan.

11:00 – Royal sources are saying Queen Elizabeth could soon be retiring from public duties, leaving Prince Charles as the head of the Royal Family, acting as Prince Regent until he becomes king. But this year has been a hard one for the House of Windsor, as several scandals have shone a negative light on the monarchy. First, Prince Philip broke a member of the public’s wrist when he crashed his Land Rover, and more recently Prince Andrew was at the centre of a scandal due to his associations with deceased sex offender and serial pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. While Queen Elizabeth is beloved, even among those who don’t love the monarchy, Prince Charles is less well-liked and very few are excited to see him on the throne. We want to know how you feel – should Queen Elizabeth’s death spell the end of the monarchy, or is there still a place for royalty in our lives? Give us a call at 1-877-332-8255 and join the conversation.
12:00 – The Association of Crime Stoppers Programs of Saskatchewan is hoping the Christmas spirit will help close cold missing person cases. Their campaign “To Those Who Took the Missing” is appealing to the people who may be responsible for a disappearance or have information that could solve a case. Ryan Ehalt, police coordinator with Saskatoon Crime Stoppers, had the idea after speaking to a convicted inmate who confessed his victim was the subject of a historical missing person case. The association is using social media to share letters and messages from victims’ families in the hope it will motivate the people with knowledge of the cases to come forward. Ehalt joins John now to discuss the project and their efforts in locating missing persons.
