A 15-year-old boy is facing a weapon charge after an incident in downtown Regina Saturday evening.
In a media release, police said it all started when officers were called to a “weapon offence” in the 2100 block of 11th Avenue, near the Cornwall Centre, around 6:50 p.m.
According to police, the woman who called in said she was leaving a business at closing time when three teenage boys attempted to enter it. After telling the trio they couldn’t go in, one of them showed her what appeared to be a gun in his waistband.
The woman left the area and went into a nearby business in the 1800 block of 11th Avenue. The teens followed her.
When police also arrived at the business, they discovered one of the teens was concealing a canister of bear spray in his waistband; no gun was ever involved.
No one was hurt in the incident.
The 15-year-old boy, who can’t be named due to provisions in the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is now charged with unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.
He’ll appear in youth court Jan. 20, 2020.
The two other teens involved were not charged.
