10:00 – During the federal election, Maxime Bernier and his People’s Party of Canada were painted as racists and bigots by much of the mainstream media, and the CPC even hired Warren Kinsella’s firm to help paint the party as hateful and racist. But Bernier has spoken out against racism and said white supremacists aren’t welcome in the PCC, leading some to believe he was smeared based on his views on immigration. James di Fiore recently sat down with Bernier to discuss his party being branded as racists, why the far-right seemed to gravitate towards him, and what’s next for the controversial leader. Di Fiore says Bernier’s policies may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but instead of being judged on his policies he was judged unfairly based on a label carefully crafted by political opponents. Di Fiore joins Gormley to discuss the anti-Bernier campaign during the election, and whether he thinks there will ever be an elected PPC MP in Canada.

11:00 – As presents start to appear under the Christmas tree, children begin the annual tradition of snooping around to find out what Santa brought them before they unwrap their gifts Christmas morning. Did you snoop for presents when you were young? Would you check the closet, or go a step further and peek under wrapping paper while trying to conceal the evidence of your snooping? For some people spoiling the surprise took the magic out of Christmas morning, but others just needed to know! As a parent, do you take any precautions against your kids’ curiosity or offer them an early gift if they don’t snoop? Give us a call at 1-877-332-8255 and join the conversation!
12:00 – A number of recent suicides have shaken the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation, and the mother of a 10-year-old girl who took her own life is speaking up. The First Nation’s leaders described the suicides as a crisis after three people committed suicide over three weeks last month, and eight more suicide attempts. The issue was highlighted last week when Provincial Auditor Judy Ferguson identified the high suicide rates in Northern Saskatchewan and found healthcare staff weren’t receiving sufficient training to deal with suicidal patients. One of the people who took their own life was 10-year-old Jaylyn Angus. Her mother, Dorothy Angus, is sharing a message put together by the young people in the community, asking adults to listen to them and stop gambling, drinking, and doing drugs. Angus joins Gormley to share the message.
