If you are like me and you have to defend the CFL to the thousands of far less knowledgeable yet very opinionated in this country about the NFL’s perceived superiority, remember this date: Dec. 8, 2019.
(Before I continue, I love football on both sides of the border.)
The Kansas City Chiefs nearly had to forfeit a game in New England on Sunday, when some team equipment ended up in Newark, N.J., the night before the afternoon game. During the game, officials made two mistakes in a matter of minutes in the second half. One mistake took a Patriots touchdown off the board.
I can only imagine how some CFL detractors, and certain members of the central Canadian media, would have teed off on all things CFL had those events happened north of the border.
It seems every year CFL fans have to absorb criticism from a loud, uninformed throng of Canadians who believe the NFL is a huge cut above. Yet time and time again, it’s proven there is little disparity.
