Volunteers with 980 CJME’s Santas Anonymous will be wrapping countless toys this weekend for children who would otherwise go without a gift for Christmas.
Wrap Day for the 50th anniversary of the campaign is Saturday and, for longtime volunteer Crystal Olson, it’s always a rewarding experience.
“There’s always Christmas music playing. Everyone’s cheery and happy,” Olson said.
“(People) get to go shopping, look around, pick out toys … People bring their whole families (and) their kids. Hockey teams come in and I think at the end of the day people leave feeling like they helped give back.”
She said Wrap Day gives a chance for people who can only contribute their time.
“Maybe you don’t have the money or the resources to actually go out and buy a whole bunch of presents for a family in need. This is a way you can help out,” Olson said.
Her advice for volunteers is to get to the Regina and District Food Bank early, as there will be many people grabbing tables to wrap gifts.
Wrapping starts Saturday at 8 a.m.
