The 2020 CFL schedule was released Monday and it is a reminder once again that the only thing CFL fans should be wishing for this Christmas is a 10th franchise in Halifax to get the go-ahead and start playing games.
It should happen, even if it means the games are started in Moncton as a stadium gets built in Halifax.
A 10th team would relieve the CFL of so much pain and headaches when not only creating but announcing the schedule.
A 10-team league would allow an even schedule with likely one bye week, maybe two — but definitely not three.
It would create a true coast-to-coast league.
Nobody would have a bye week in Week 1, nor would anyone need a bye week during the last three weeks of the season in the run to the playoffs.
So please, Santa, if you could deliver the league’s 10th franchise and a stadium in Halifax under the tree, we’d greatly appreciate it — especially for those who know what type of party Halifax could throw for a Grey Cup week.
