The Regina Police Service is asking for the public’s help as officers investigate an assault on a senior.
In a media release, police say a 79-year-old woman was assaulted Thursday at about 6:20 a.m., in the 500 block of Albert Street North, near the McDonald’s.
Police say the woman was behind a nearby gas station when she was assaulted by a man, who struck her in the head with something he was carrying. The man ran off in a southwesterly direction.
The woman was found by passersby who saw her lying on the ground. They called police and EMS and helped the victim to safety inside. She subsequently was transported to hospital for further treatment.
The suspect is described as being about six feet tall and wearing black clothing.
Police are asking business owners in the area who have video surveillance to share that video with investigators as they try to identify a suspect.
