In some respects 2019 will be a tough year to top for Canadian sports fans.
The Toronto Raptors brought the Larry O’Brien Trophy north of the border for the first time.
At 19 years of age, Bianca Andreescu single-handedly brought the sport of tennis to the forefront in this nation like never before with her win at the U.S. Open.
Tiger Woods had what we are assuming is one of his final moments in the spotlight with his Masters win at Augusta. Even we Canucks couldn’t turn off the TV.
One could argue that sports fans like me were spoiled in 2019, but here are my three wishes for 2020:
- How about better officiating in this winter’s NFL playoffs? New Orleans deserved to be in the Super Bowl in February of 2019, and no, I’m not over it.
- I wish a Canadian team could get to the Stanley Cup final. It has been nine years since the Vancouver Canucks advanced.
- My biggest wish is for an unusually warm Nov. 22 in the city of Regina for the 2020 Grey Cup game.
