Drivers heading out of town for the Christmas holidays might want to drive with caution as they hit the highways: Environment Canada has issued a fog advisory for a large swath of the province, covering western and central regions, including Saskatoon.
“Near zero visibility in fog is expected or occurring,” the weather agency’s advisory said.
“Areas of significantly reduced visibilities in fog are being reported throughout western and central Saskatchewan. Visibilities will gradually improve later this morning.
“Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero. If travelling, be prepared for areas of near-zero visibility,” the statement said.
As of 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, the advisory applied to areas around Lloydminster, Rosetown, Biggar, Warman, Meadow Lake, Swift Current, Cabri and Unity, among others.
650 CKOM radio listeners were sending in text messages reporting 100 feet or less of visibility in some areas, including around Wakaw.
Environment Canada lifted the fog advisories around 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
