With the bow unwrapped on Christmas and Boxing Day packed up for another year, many across Regina will be getting rid of their real Christmas trees soon, if that hasn’t already been done.
The city is putting out a reminder about its free, treecycle program.
This year, there’s a noticeable change.
There’s now a permanent yard waste depot next to the landfill.
That’s different from past years where there were a number of drop-off locations scattered throughout Regina. The city reminds people that if they drop off their trees at those old locations, it is considered illegal dumping.
The yard waste depot is accepting Christmas trees until January 31, 2020. Decorations must be removed and trees can’t be in a disposal bag when dropped off.
Last year, 31 tonnes of real Christmas trees were collected.
