The last few hours of 2019 are going to be warm ones in Regina.
Environment Canada’s Dave Carlsen is forecasting a low of -6 C, with a light wind and chance of flurries.
“For lows, that’s way above average. Average lows this time of year are hovering around minus 21 to 23,” Carlsen said.
“It’s not unheard of, of course but it’s always nice to get those warm temperatures when you might be spending a bit more time outside.”
The warm temperatures should persist into the first week of the New Year.
But Carlsen said there’s cold air forming over Siberia, a tell-tale sign that the mercury is about to drop.
He’s expecting a “deep freeze” to happen by the middle of next week that should last a few days.
People in Regina have a number of options to spend the last day of 2019.
