Like the XFL 1.0 or the AAF or any other spring league that has tried, XFL 2.0 doesn’t have much of a chance.
But football fans will give it a go, mainly because it’s Vince McMahon behind it and be honest: We’re all curious what this new version is going to look like.
It has new rules, some weird, some interesting and some I think are going to become mainstream when the league eventually folds and the CFL and NFL adopt them.
Saturday will be the first impression and, like everything in life — whether it’s a first date, meeting the parents or trying to impress skeptical football fans — it’ll be make or break.
There are certainly some CFL connections, especially with head coaches Marc Trestman and June Jones.
Are there any big names? Not really.
Reports are McMahon is already losing a lot on this second go-round, which is the reason XFL 2.0 likely faces the same fate as the first edition … without the quirky nicknames.
