The Sedin brothers saw their 22 and 33 jerseys raised to the rafters of Rogers Arena last night.
That raised the question on their Hall of Fame worthiness.
Next year they are eligible, but do they deserve the honour?
Both had more than 1,100 points. Both won the Art Ross Trophy as the league’s top scorer. Henrik won the Hart for league MVP. Daniel won a Ted Lindsay for the MVP award as voted by his peers. And between them, they had three King Clancy awards for their dedication to work off the ice.
They had more individual awards than Hall of Famer Mats Sundin, whose only trophy is the Mark Messier Leadership Award. At their best, the Sedins were equal to the best Eric Lindros gave over his best seven years. And they won as many Stanley Cups as those two Hall of Famers.
Plus, anyone who knows them will call them Hall of Fame human beings, if that should be in consideration.
Based on all of that, it should be a yes to the Hall of Fame for the Sedins.
