The RCMP says a man arrested after an incident north of Regina on Thursday morning now is facing 11 charges.
The 26-year-old from Whitewood is charged with four counts of possession of stolen property and one count each of uttering threats, possession of a restricted firearm, careless use of a firearm, possession of a restricted weapon while prohibited, pointing a firearm, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and impaired driving by drug.
The incident began around 6 a.m., when a man crashed into a tree in the front yard of a family’s home and got stuck. He then allegedly threatened the homeowner who came out to see what had happened.
In a media release, the RCMP said officers found seven grams of what’s believed to be methamphetamine and more than $600 in the man’s possession.
“A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a scale, a handgun and what is believed to be one gram of methamphetamine,” the RCMP release added. “After the vehicle was searched, it was determined the handgun did not have a magazine or ammunition. The vehicle and the licence plate were later determined to be stolen.”
The man was to make his first court appearance Friday afternoon.
