30 – Last week was a big one for energy news in Canada, with the cancellation of the Frontier Mine project, Alberta’s court decision finding the federal carbon tax unconstitutional, and of course the rail blockades grinding down Canada’s economy by blocking rail traffic. Former Premier Brad Wall joins Gormley to share his thoughts on the recent developments and how Canada and Saskatchewan should move forward.

00 – B.C. Liberal Ellis Ross has been a vocal critic of protesters standing in the way of LNG’s Coastal GasLink pipeline project on the West Coast, saying the projects would create huge economic opportunities for First Nations communities in the region. Ross joins Gormley to discuss the protests and why he thinks the protesters are causing more harm than good.

00 – In Canada, if you want to place a sports bet, your only legal option is a multi-event parlay bet through a provincial lottery system, but that may be changing as a private members bill was introduced in Ottawa which would allow betting on single events. Scott Stinson, National Post sports columnist, has been covering the issue and says there are arguments both for and against sports betting, but it may soon be legalized in any case. Stinson joins Gormley to discuss sports gambling in Canada and what he thinks about the proposed changes.

45 – Best of Saskatchewan
There are more than 4,000 charities active around Saskatchewan, and we’re embarking on a new project to feature some of the great people doing great work in this province during a brand-new segment we like to call “The Best of Saskatchewan.” We’re starting this new feature by speaking with Jacqueline Tisher, founder and CEO of Hope’s Home. With locations in Regina, Saskatoon, PA, and Warman, Hope’s Home provides a space and programming specially tailored for families of children with complex medical needs. Tisher joins Gormley now to tell him more.

00 – After some uncertainty, the NHL alumni game went off without a hitch in Beechy Friday night. Organizers were left scrambling Wednesday when they learned the main attraction-the Montreal Canadiens alumni team-couldn’t make it to the arena fundraiser. Bad weather in eastern Ontario and Quebec cancelled their flights. But, the small town northeast of Swift Current rallied together and pulled off an event they won’t soon forget. Thanks to some last-minute replacements the Beechy arena was packed for the game against the Coteau Valley Bombers. Committee Chair Justin Dubasov said the fundraising event was “absolutely more than we expected.” He joins Gormley to talk about the event.
