Environment Canada has issued a winter storm watch for areas in southwestern Saskatchewan.
Areas around Leader, Gull Lake, Shaunavon, Maple Creek, Val Marie and Cypress Hills were included in the alert, which was issued Thursday morning.
Snow is expected to begin in the province on Friday night.
“The snow will persist on Saturday before gradually tapering off Saturday night or Sunday morning,” the alert read. “Total snowfall accumulation of 10 to 25 centimetres are possible with the greatest amounts falling over the higher terrain of the Cypress Hills.
“In addition to the snow, gusty east to northeast winds will create poor visibilities in blowing snow especially on Saturday.”
