One of Regina’s top tourist attractions is closing its door because of COVID-19.
The MacKenzie Art Gallery is exercising abundant caution and will temporarily close the gallery to the public effective Saturday until further notice.
It is being done in response to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, and with the recommendations to reduce mass social gatherings in an effort to curtail the spread.
Events and programs currently scheduled by the gallery have been postponed as well. All activities that were scheduled by third-party providers at the gallery are reverting back to the organizations and patrons are advised to confirm the activities’ status with the organizers.
It also means the Craft Services Café and the Fine Arts Pre-school will be temporarily closed.
Any advanced tickets and/or online tickets to the MacKenzie that have been purchased will be accepted when it reopens.
There haven’t been any confirmed COVID-19 cases associated with the MacKenzie, but it’s taking the advice of government directives and health agencies.
Some staff will continue working in the space and/or remotely as required. Administrative offices and non-public business functions will continue — and the gallery will be responding to phone calls and emails.
Visitors and fans of the art gallery are encouraged to follow the website and social media platforms for updates.
