The Regina Police Service issued a public advisory Friday about a convicted sex offender who is deemed to be a high risk to reoffend.
Jason Paul Thorne, 43, is to move into a Heritage neighbourhood residence that will supervise and monitor his activities. He’s currently on statutory release and is to resume his long-term supervision on June 20.
Thorne is described as Indigenous, 5-foot-9 and approximately 170 pounds, with a medium build, brown eyes and black hair.
In the advisory, the police say Thorne “poses a high risk for acts of sexual offending against female children. The prospects for reduction of his risk through treatment interventions are poor.”
Thorne faces a number of conditions during his release, including staying away from places where children under the age of 18 are likely to gather — such as schools, parks, swimming pools and recreational centres — unless he is accompanied by another adult.
A similar warning was issued in August. Thorne was arrested about three weeks later for failing to abide by the conditions of his release.
Anyone with questions or concerns about Thorne is to call the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or their nearest RCMP detachment.
