Remember to put your sticks out today.
The Humboldt Broncos should never be too far from our minds, despite the trying times we’re living in now.
Young lives were lost, while others carry on with physical, mental and emotional anguish from two years ago.
Again, this marks a day our hearts break for the parents, families and friends of those lost.
However, I continue to follow the lives of the survivors.
Grayson Cameron was able to captain the Broncos this SJHL season after needing a year of recovery before he could get back on the ice.
Brayden Camrud continued his hockey career at the University of Alaska-Anchorage. We’ve seen Ryan Straschnitzki move his legs. We’ve seen the progress from Layne Matechuk and Morgan Gobeil after serious brain injuries.
These are just a handful of stories.
Sadly, COVID-19 won’t allow some members of the team and families to gather together and grieve together.
Whether it’s a green shirt, a green and gold ribbon, a Broncos jersey or putting your sticks out, make sure you remember.
Plus, we could all use the Humboldt Strong mindset right now.
