Two spike belts were needed to end a police pursuit across Regina early Monday.
The Regina Police Service said in a media release that officers were called at about 3:40 a.m., to the area of Montreal Crescent and Broadway Avenue for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Officers determined the same vehicle had earlier evaded police.
They attempted to stop the vehicle, but it took off at high speeds.
Officers put down a spike belt in the area of First Avenue and McCarthy Boulevard, but the vehicle kept going. A second spike belt was laid out on Stockton Street and that one allowed officers to make a high-risk traffic stop.
A 32-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were arrested and bear spray, a knife and crystal meth were found in the vehicle. The man was on a Canada-wide prohibition from driving.
They made their first court appearances Monday.
