8:30 – The provincial government is taking steps to support our oil and gas sector, which has suffered significantly due to COVID-19 and is the second largest contributor to Saskatchewan’s provincial GDP. Energy and Resources Minister Bronwyn Eyre says the goal is to protect the 34,000 jobs in the sector by extending deadlines to help the sector stabilize, extending mineral rights by one year, rescinding part of the Oil and Gas Administrative Levy, and more.

9:30 – The Nipawin Apostolic Church was planning a drive-in service on Easter Sunday, but despite keeping with the social distancing guidelines the event was stopped after Pastor Jordan Gadsby received a letter from a public health official saying the service was considered to be a mass gathering and a violation of the public health guidelines. Gadsby joins Gormley to discuss the cancellation, which has been questioned by the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms and Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe.

10:00 – Google is sharing cell phone data with Canadian politicians and health officials, in order to help track citizens’ movements during the COVID-19 pandemic, but many people are uncomfortable with the government having such direct access to their information. Dr. Ann Cavoukian, who served as Ontario’s Information and Privacy Commissioner, says this debate is just beginning, but it’s possible for the government to use this data without putting privacy at risk, as long as the data is “strongly de-identified and then re-aggregated” to ensure individual privacy is strictly maintained.
