A 31-year-old man is in critical condition after he was ejected from his pickup truck in a crash and then run over by another driver on Highway 10 near Fort Qu’Appelle on Sunday.
According to the RCMP, officers from the Fort Qu’Appelle detachment responded just after 9 p.m., to a report of a collision on the highway one kilometre east of the town.
Investigation determined a half-ton had hit a guardrail on a bridge, causing the truck to roll. The driver and lone occupant had been ejected from the truck and then had been struck by another vehicle as he lay on the highway.
The man was taken to hospital in Fort Qu’Appelle before being transported to a Regina hospital by STARS air ambulance. He was reported to be in critical condition, but had been stabilized.
The other driver wasn’t hurt.
Highway 10 was closed for several hours while police investigated. A work crew inspected the guardrail before the highway was reopened.
The police investigation is continuing.
