A handful of people are facing charges after a SWAT call inolving tear gas occurred in Regina on Monday.
Around 5:15 p.m. police were dispatched to a home on the 1400 block of Robinson Street after a man called to report an assault and threats on his life.
When police arrived, they found the complainant who had sustained injuries.
The man reported there were several suspects inside the home and another man who was also assaulted.
Police learned there could be guns and other weapons inside the home.
A short time later, a man emerged from the home. Both of the victim’s were treated by EMS.
Around 7:30 p.m., after police said attempted were made to negotiate with the occupants of the house to come out, additional specialized resources were placed on the call including SWAT, crisis negotiators, canine and an incident command group.
Around 10 p.m., tear gas was deployed into the home and police arrested eight people. Around 2 a.m., a warrant to search the home was executed and police found a machete and gun ammo.
Three were released without charges.
Five people — two women and three men — are charged with assault with a weapon. One of the men was also charged with failure to comply with a release order.
