A cluster of COVID-19 cases has been identified in Lloydminster.
13 positive cases of COVID-19 have been found in the city, including five health workers and eight patients, according to a Wednesday press release by the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA).
The cluster has been identified at the hospital and the SHA says transmission occurred in the hospital setting.
COVID-19 patients will continue to be admitted into the Lloydminster Hospital, but non-COVID-19 patients will be diverted to another hospital.
According to the release, the emergency department, emergency surgical and obstetrical services remain available at the facility but that is subject to change based on the ongoing risk assessments by public health.
“The health and safety of our patients and the employees who care for them is of utmost importance to the Saskatchewan Health Authority, and keeping the people we serve and our employees and physicians healthy and safe is paramount to the work we do each and every day,” SHA’s release reads.
Health workers who have been identified as close contacts with a confirmed case are being tested, as contact investigations continue.
