Regina police tasered a man Friday evening following an incident on the North Argyle Street overpass over Ring Road.
Officers responded to the area at 2:35 p.m. and found a man high on drugs threatening to hurt himself, according to a media release.
He climbed on top of a chain-link safety barrier that runs the length of the west side of the overpass forcing police to close traffic in the area.
Crisis negotiators, the canine unit and SWAT members worked at the scene to bring the man back down to safety.
Eventually, police said the man climbed down.
At that point he resisted officers and tried to run, police explained in the media release.
Officers deployed a taser and took the man into custody to ensure his safety.
He was assessed in hospital and will be released from police custody once he is deemed sober.
The incident will be reviewed by an internal use of force committee because a conducted energy weapon was used.
