11:00 – Quebec anti-gun group PolySeSouvient has called for a mandatory buyback program to accompany Justin Trudeau’s sweeping bans on “assault-type” weapons, rather than the grandfathering program still being worked out by the federal government. Tracey Wilson with the Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights says a buyback program would cost Canadian taxpayers billions for the sake of getting guns out of the hands of law-abiding Canadians. Wilson says some of the newly-banned firearms cost as much as $15,000, and a mandatory buyback would be “outrageously expensive while we’re sliding into debt like we’ve never seen.”
