Police are on Fisher Street in Regina’s Glencairn Village neighbourhood this morning to investigate a man’s death.
In a media release, the Regina Police Service said officers responded to scene at about 8:20 a.m. Police investigators and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service now are involved.
Reg Mohr was in the area to visit a friend Friday morning.
“I noticed a police car driving slowly down the street, he pulled over and I went by. As I parked my vehicle and got out, I noticed another police vehicle coming at a high rate of speed at the other end (of the street),” Mohr said.
Mohr said police talked to a woman who was holding her arm before turning their attention to a house.
“They went o the front door, opened up the door and yelled, ‘Come out with your hands up!’”
Mohr said the woman holding her arm came up to him to talk and she had a gash about five-inches long and one-inch deep.
“I was watching and then this guy runs out of the back of the house so I yell to the police, ‘He’s running out of the back,’ and they chased him,” Mohr said.
Police said one man is in custody. As well, a woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Anyone with information that could help in the investigation is asked to call the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
