It seems people in Saskatchewan were still putting their money down at the till, even as the pandemic got going here.
From March to February, the province is reporting a decline of retail sales of 1.5 per cent, which is the lowest decline among the provinces.
The country as a whole reported retail sales declined 10 per cent in March.
“We have seen a number of these economic indicators that show the resiliency of our economy during these challenging times,” said Trade and Export Development Minister Jeremy Harrison in a news release.
“We know that COVID-19 has had a major impact on both the Canadian and global economies, but we are seeing signs that Saskatchewan is well positioned to recover from these current challenges.”
Stats Canada predicted the drop in retail sales in April for Canada will be worse.
