A loud bang in the southern area of Regina caused some alarm this weekend, but it was only a broken sprinkler line.
At around 8:30 Sunday morning, a loud sound alarmed many people in the Wascana Park area. It turned out it was simply a malfunction of a sprinkler line on the third floor of the Legislative building.
Deputy Fire Chief Gord Hewitt told 980 CJME it wasn’t a dangerous situation.
“No fire, no damage that I’m aware of. Our crews left it with the maintenance person to deal with,” he explained.
While the initial call to the department gave the impression that some kind of major disaster was going on, the sound was more bark than bite.
“Their impression was that it was an explosion or a loud bang of some sort. We don’t know how loud that was, but it was enough that they phoned us. When we got there, we just found some leaking water and a burst sprinkler line,” Hewitt said.
