A fire in a house on York Street early Sunday has led to an arson charge against a 19-year-old man from McLean.
The Regina Police Service said officers were sent to two locations Sunday at about 6:25 a.m.
At one of them, officers met a woman who said she was getting threatening messages from a person she knew. The messages included threats against her and other people as well as warnings of damage to her property and the property of others.
At the other location, in the 1400 block of York Street, officers found a house that had sustained fire damage. There wasn’t anyone in the house at the time of the blaze.
According to Regina Fire and Protective Services, neighbouring properties were slightly damaged in the fire.
Investigators subsequently arrested a 19-year-old man and charged him with arson, breaking and entering with intent to commit arson, mischief under $5,000, uttering threats and breach of an undertaking.
His first court appearance was Monday.
