A 50-year-old Regina man is facing arson charges in connection with four recent fires that caused damage to property and required Regina Fire Department resources.
Regina police say, on May 30, someone lit fire to a large tree stump in the front yard of a residence in the 2100 block of Francis Street. The fire was not authorized by the owner, and firefighters were required to put it out.
On June 3, at the same residence in the 2100 block of Francis Street, someone lit the garbage bin on fire. The bin was located near the garage on the property and caused damage to the building. The point of origin of the fire was also very near to a SaskEnergy meter and gas lines. Firefighters had to be called out to handle the fire.
On June 9, a man allegedly broke into a vacant house in the 1400 block of Retallack Street. The suspect lit a fire inside the house, which caused extensive damage. Fire crews extinguished the blaze.
On June 11, a male suspect lit bushes and shrubs on fire near the corner of Dewdney Avenue and Rae Street. Firefighters again had to be called out to put the fire out.
The man made his first court appearance in provincial court on June 12.
