A woman has been charged with bootlegging after an RCMP traffic stop in Pelican Narrows on Saturday.
The RCMP had received word that a vehicle would be travelling to Pelican Narrows with a large amount of alcohol for resale in the community.
The Pelican Narrows Community Safety Officers told the RCMP the vehicle had already gone through the checkstop and was driving through the town.
The Pelican Narrows RCMP located the vehicle and did a traffic stop. The driver was advised she was under investigation for bootlegging and she consented to a search of her vehicle.
The driver stated she had a couple of cases of beer, but a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 32 60-ounce bottles of liquor and 164 cans of beer.
The driver has been charged under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act. She’s scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 6 in Pelican Narrows.
