The City of Regina on Thursday started removing four trees that have Dutch elm disease.
A media release from the city said the diseased trees are located on Second Avenue and King Street.
Provincial regulations say elm trees in Saskatchewan can’t be pruned between April 1 and Aug. 31 in hopes of limiting the risk of spreading Dutch elm disease. The city said Regina has lost just 128 trees to the disease since 1981.
Residents seeking more information about the disease can visit the city’s website. People with concerns about Dutch elm disease can call Service Regina at 306-777-7000.
