More than 50 communities in Saskatchewan will be starting road safety projects after getting grants from the Provincial Traffic Safety Fund.
A total of 52 projects were approved to receive $550,000 in grants from the fund. The complete list appears below.
The projects include the installation of things like digital speed display signs, pedestrian crossing signals, school zone beacons and additional streetlights.
“It’s great to once again see so many are taking the initiative to reduce traffic collisions, injuries and fatalities in their communities, and I’m pleased that the Traffic Safety Fund is able to help them reach their goals,” Minister Responsible for SGI Joe Hargrave said in a media release.
“I want to congratulate the successful applicants and encourage others to apply for these grants. Safer roads benefit everyone in our province.”
The grants, which are awarded twice annually, are funded in part by the proceeds of photo speed enforcement in the province.
Applications for the next round of grants will be accepted starting Wednesday, with a deadline of Sept. 24. More information can be found here.
