A 46-year-old man who walked away from the White Spruce Provincial Training Centre near Yorkton on June 21 has been recaptured in Regina — and charged in connection with a drug trafficking operation.
The Regina Police Service said the man, who hails from Canora, was arrested Tuesday in the 3800 block of Eastgate Drive. A 52-year-old woman from Yorkton also was arrested at that time on a warrant stemming from a drug trafficking investigation in Yorkton.
Search warrants were executed on a vehicle and on a hotel room on Eastgate Drive. Officers found two guns, ammunition, currency, body armour and drug paraphernalia. Substances believed to be fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine also were seized.
Both are facing weapons- and drug-related charges. They made their first court appearances Thursday.
