A 22-year-old Regina man is facing weapons- and drug-related charges after he mistakenly fired a gun in his own home.
According to the Regina Police Service, officers responded Tuesday at about 8 p.m., to a house in the 2300 block of McTavish Street after someone heard a shot inside.
Officers determined a man had been handling a long-barreled gun and accidentally fired it into a wall inside the house. No one was injured.
After a search of the house, officers seized the gun as well as a large amount of drugs.
The man was charged with possession of a weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm, prohibited/restricted weapon obtained by crime, careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, and possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
He made his first court appearance Thursday.
