Well, now we can start the timer on the CFL for 2020.
The league wants a decision by July 23 to go ahead with its own bubble plan to resume play.
Having only 17 days to get the players and the league on the same page doesn’t seem like enough time after the last three months.
The players haven’t been thrilled with the league’s approach to COVID-19 thus far. And having a short time to get all its ducks in a row is probably not sitting well with the CFLPA when the league also wants to reopen the current CBA. Hint, hint – it will want the players to take a pay cut.
But at least we can stop the “Will they or won’t they?” talk soon and just be done with it.
We want football back, of course, and hopefully they can pull off what feels like a last-minute drive for a win.
Actually, with federal funding needed to pull this off, maybe they’re down 10 with a minute left and need to pull off a successful onside kick.
Thankfully, this is the CFL and we’ve seen it happen. So there’s still hope.
