The Canadian Football League has officially announced Winnipeg will play host to the 2020 season, if it goes ahead.
But here is my biggest question: Why announce where the hub city is going to be if you are not intending to use it?
There are many things that have to be accomplished so this feels a bit like putting the cart before the horse.
The NHL had decided on hub cities in Toronto and Edmonton but waited until the agreements were made with the federal government and the players before making everything official.
With rumblings there is going to be another announcement this week, you wonder if the CFL actually already knows what is coming. That would be the good news for CFL fans because if the league knows the answer is no season, there is no way they tease the fan base with a hub city announcement.
If the answer is yes, well, there should be no hesitation with announcing the CFL’s hub.
Maybe I’m just being optimistic — or giving the league too much credit.
