The Saskatchewan government has given approval to 303 more projects under the Municipal Economic Enhancement Program (MEEP) for 2020.
The new projects, which are to receive more than $16.6 million in funding from the province, brings the total number of approved projects so far to 497. To date, the province’s investment totals more than $38 million.
The government also announced in a media release it’s extending the deadline for applications to July 31.
“Our government recognizes some municipalities may need just a little more time to complete their MEEP applications during these summer months and we want to ensure they have ample opportunity to take advantage of this program,” Government Relations Minister Lori Carr said in the release.
“Provincial investments in local projects and initiatives will help create jobs in communities during this recent unprecedented period, strengthen municipal assets and improve quality of life.”
The latest approved projects range in cost from $867 for road resurfacing and drainage improvements in St. Brieux to $1.58 million for sewage lagoon expansion and improvements in Warman.
MEEP 2020 is a $150-million program announced by the provincial government in May.
